Spatola and his #89 Open Wheel Modified team claimed their second
victory of the 2010 season on Friday night, July 23 at the Kankakee
County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois! After starting second
on the grid in the A-Main, Mike dominated the 20-lap main event
to score the $700 win over Jim Farris, Vince Cooper, Dave Porth,
and Jamie Lomax. Following a rain-out on Saturday evening at
the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois,
the Spatola Racing team wrapped up the weekend on Sunday, July
25 at the Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois. Mike won his
B-Main to gain access into the $1,000 to win feature event and
later wound up twentieth in the final rundown.

Trio of Top Five Finishes!

The Spatola Racing team traveled to three different venues from
July 14-17 in the states of Indiana and Illinois and walked
away with a trio of top five finishes! On Wednesday night at
the Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, Mike Spatola set fast
time during qualifying, won his heat race, and later finished
fourth in the A-Main. At the Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee,
Illinois on Friday evening, Mike started sixth in the feature
event and drove his #89 entry up to the second spot to finish
only behind winner Jim Farris. In the finale on Saturday at
the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois,
"Opie" drove past five competitors in the main event
to score a solid third place performance behind winner McKay
Wenger and runner-up Jay Ledford.

Action at LaSalle, Kankakee, and Fairbury!

Mike Spatola and his #89 Open Wheel Modified team ventured to
a trio of Illinois facilities from July 8-10. On Thursday night
at the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois, Mike ran second
in heat race action, but unfortunately broke a rear end on the
first lap of the feature event. At the Kankakee County Speedway
in Kankakee, Illinois on Friday evening, Mike started seventh
in the A-Main and picked off one competitor on his way to a
solid sixth place effort. In the weekend finale on Saturday
at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois,
"Opie" recorded a strong fourth place performance
in the UMP sanctioned main event.

Another Busy Week
Highlighted by Kankakee Win!

The Spatola Racing team was once again very busy from June 30-July
4, as they competed in four different programs at four different
venues in Illinois and Indiana. The busy stretch for the #89
team was highlighted by their first trip to victory lane this
season. Mike Spatola started sixth in the Open Wheel Modified
feature event on Friday night at the Kankakee County Speedway
in Kankakee, Illinois and stormed his way to the front of the
field. When the dust had settled, Mike found himself celebrating
in victory lane after defeating Nick Allen, Jim Farris, A.J.
Dixon, and Kevin Hastings!
In other action last week, "Opie" finished
second at both the Charleston Speedway in Charleston, Illinois
(June 30) and the Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury,
Illinois (July 3). In the finale at the Shady Hill Speedway
in Medaryville, Indiana on Sunday, Mike narrowly missed out
on transferring into the $3,000 to win 'Firecracker 50.' However,
he did get to run in the B-Feature at Shady Hill where he was
a strong runner-up.

Top Five Finishes in Ultra-Busy Week!

Mike Spatola and his #89 Open Wheel Modified team entered seven
events from June 21-26 in the Land of Lincoln! The Spatola Racing
team was very consistent throughout the ultra-busy week, as
they earned five Top Five finishes and six Top Ten performances.
Mike finished eighteenth on Monday at the Vermilion County Speedway
in Danville, Illinois, ninth on Tuesday at the Highland Speedway
in Highland, Illinois, fourth on Wednesday at the tiny Belle
Clair Speedway in Belleville, Illinois, third on Thursday at
the Shepp's Speedway in Alexander, Illinois, fifth on Friday
at the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois, second
on Saturday in the regularly scheduled show at the Fairbury
American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, and fifth in
a make-up feature at F.A.L.S.
