Posted June 30, 2008
The Spatola Racing team was very busy last week, as they entered five Open Wheel Modified events from June 25-29 in four different states: Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois. Mike Spatola had a great week, as he earned himself a trio of Top Five performances. The Manhattan, Illinois driver blasted from sixteenth at the Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri on Wednesday night, June 25 to pass fourteen cars en route to a strong runner-up performance. He then landed a pair of fourth place efforts on Friday and Saturday at the Paducah (KY) International Raceway and the Kamp (IN) Motor Speedway.

The #89 team was also sitting pretty on Sunday evening, June 29 at the Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois. After starting ninth in his heat race, Mike got up on the wheel and passed seven cars in the preliminary event. By virtue of the passing points that he accumulated during heat race action, "Opie" was due to roll off from the front row for the night's main event. Unfortunately, Mother Nature intervened and pushed back the A-Main until Sunday, July 6.
