(May 15, 2016) Over a rainy weekend, the Spatola Racing team headed to Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday evening, May 14 for the annual running of the 'Chuck Hamilton Memorial,' which was sanctioned by the American Late Model Series (ALMS). Mike Spatola III clicked off the fourth quickest time in his group during qualifying prior to grabbing the fourth transfer spot through his heat race. After starting the $5,000 to win headliner from the inside of the sixth row, Mike advanced a couple of positions during the 50-lapper on his way to a steady ninth place effort. Spatola Nabs Top Ten in Douglas Dodge 40; Caught Up in Wreck in FALS Frenzy
(May 8, 2016) Mike Spatola III and his #89 team were back in the pit area at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois over the May 6-7 weekend for a pair of high-profile MARS DIRTcar Series and American Late Model Series (ALMS) co-sanctioned shootouts. On Friday night in the $5,000 to win 'Douglas Dodge 40' at Farmer City, Mike timed in second quickest in his group during qualifying, ran third in his heat race, and later climbed up to ninth in the 40-lap headliner. At FALS on Saturday evening, Mike clicked off the fourth fastest lap overall during time trials prior to grabbing the second transfer spot through his heat race. Unfortunately, "Opie" was involved in an incident during the $10,000 to win 'FALS Frenzy' main event and was forced to retire from the 50-lapper with front end damage in the twenty-first position. Mike Spatola III Sets Fast Time; Finishes Runner-Up at Farmer City!
(May 1, 2016) The Spatola Racing team headed back to Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois on Friday evening, April 29 for a $1,000 to win weekly Super Late Model showdown. Mike Spatola III clicked off the quickest lap during the UMP qualifying session to earn Fast Time honors and later placed second in heat race action. After starting the A-Main from the outside of the second row, Mike took the lead briefly during the feature before settling for a strong runner-up effort behind only winner Scott Schmitt. Saturday's scheduled stop at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois was then halted due to inclement weather. Spatola Earns Pair of Top Fives at Farmer City and FALS!
(April 24, 2016) Mike Spatola III and the #89 team tackled weekly Super Late Model programs over the April 22-23 weekend at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. On Friday night at Farmer City, Mike timed in eleventh quickest in qualifying prior to running fourth in his heat race and fourth in the $1,000 to win feature event behind only winner Scott Schmitt, Kevin Weaver, and Jason Feger. At FALS on Saturday evening, Mike clicked off the third fastest time in qualifying before finishing second in his heat race and third in the $1,200 to win main event behind only victor Kevin Weaver and runner-up Scott Schmitt. Mike Spatola III Picks Up First Win of 2016 Season at Farmer City!
(April 17, 2016) The Spatola Racing team celebrated in victory lane for the first time in the young 2016 racing season on Friday night, April 15 at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois! Mike Spatola III timed in second quickest during the qualifying session and later placed second in his heat race. After starting the weekly main event from the outside of the second row, Mike drove to the lead near the halfway mark of the race and led the remainder of the distance en route to the $1,000 triumph over Mckay Wenger, Joe Harlan, Jay Morris, and Billy Drake!

At Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday evening, April 16, another weekly Super Late Model show was held and another $1,000 payday was on the line. With work commitments, Mike did not show up at the track in time to qualify, but did advance up to fifth in heat race action. After rolling off from the inside of the fifth row in the A-Main, "Opie" battled past four competitors on his way to a solid fifth place performance behind only victor Billy Drake, Todd Bennett, Kevin Weaver, and Mckay Wenger. Spatola Racing Sixth in Weekly Show at Peoria Speedway on Saturday
(April 10, 2016) Mike Spatola III and his #89 Super Late Model team traveled to Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday evening, April 9 for a weekly program. Mike qualified second quickest during the time trial session prior to picking up the victory in heat race action. After starting the $1,000 to win main event from the pole position, "Opie" ran towards the front early in the 25-lap contest before slipping back to sixth at the checkers. Mike trailed only winner McKay Wenger, Jason Wagner, Myles Moos, Eric Spangler, and Charley Hess at the finish line. Mike Spatola III Enters Illini 100 Weekend at Farmer City Raceway
(April 4, 2016) Spatola Racing ventured to Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois on April 2-3 to compete in the annual running of the 'Illini 100,' which was sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series. The two-day spectacular started on Saturday night with a $6,000 to win shootout at the 1/4-mile fairgrounds bullring. Mike Spatola III wound up fourth in his heat race, but ran into problems in his B-Main to finish fifteenth, which unfortunately kept him out of the 25-lap main event. Mike also missed out on Sunday's $15,000 to win feature event after running seventh in his loaded heat race before scratching from his B-Main. Spatola Racing Tackles LaSalle Speedway for Thaw Brawl Weekend
(March 27, 2016) Mike Spatola III and his #89 team rolled into LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois on March 25-26 for the two-day 'Thaw Brawl' extravaganza. The MARS DIRTcar Series, Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series, and American Late Model Series tri-sanctioned the doubleheader weekend, which kicked off on Friday night with a $5,000 to win program. Mike ran sixth in his loaded heat race and third in his B-Main. Unfortunately, that consolation race finish was one mere spot away from a coveted transfer position into the 50-lap main event.

On Saturday evening at LaSalle Speedway, a whopping $15,000 winner's check was on the line in the 'Thaw Brawl' finale. Mike once again placed sixth in heat race action, but later earned the second and final transfer spot through his B-Main. After starting the 75-lap weekend finale from the inside of the tenth row, "Opie" charged all the way up to sixth before unfortunately getting spun on lap 67. Mike Spatola III Lifts Lid to 2016 Season in Tuckasee Toilet Bowl Classic
(March 6, 2016) The Spatola Racing team kicked off their 2016 campaign on March 4-5 during the two-day 'Tuckasee Toilet Bowl Classic' at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee. On Friday night in the $3,000 to win weekend opener, Mike Spatola III ran fifth in his heat race and second in his B-Main to transfer into the night's 30-lap headliner. After moving up inside of the top ten, Mike eventually slipped back to fifteenth at the checkers of the MARS DIRTcar Series show.

At Clarksville on Saturday evening, a $5,000 top prize was up for grabs in the finale of the 'Tuckasee Toilet Bowl Classic' doubleheader. Mike grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through heat race action and later posted a strong finish in the 40-lap main event. The Manhattan, Illinois ace landed inside of the top ten in the Volunteer State, eventually nabbing a solid ninth place performance.
