Racing Wraps Up 2015 Campaign in National 100 at EAMS
1, 2015) Mike Spatola III and his #89 team closed
out their version of the 2015 racing season on Saturday evening,
October 31 with a long trip to the historic East Alabama Motor
Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama. The 41st edition of the 'National
100' was held last night at EAMS and a whopping $20,000 payday
was on the line. Mike knocked down the twenty-third fastest lap
during the qualifying session prior to grabbing the fifth transfer
spot through his heat race. After starting the 100-lap main event
from the outside of the seventh row, "Opie" finished
the 'National 100' on the lead lap in the fifteenth position.

$2,015 for Another Kokomo Klash Win!
18, 2015) The Spatola Racing team captured their
second straight 'Kokomo Klash' title in exciting fashion on Saturday
evening, October 17 at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana! Mike
Spatola III laid down the quickest lap during UMP qualifying prior
to scoring a win in his heat race. After starting the 25-lap Super
Late Model main event from the outside of the front row, Mike
ran third for much of the distance at the Hoosier State bullring.
However, leader Kevin Weaver's right rear tire went flat on the
final circuit and "Opie" was there to capitalize to
score the $2,015 top prize for his sixth triumph of the 2015 season!

at Kankakee; Fifth in Illinois State Championship!

Mike Spatola III walked away with a pair of Top Five finishes
over the October 2-3 weekend in his home state of Illinois! On
Friday night in a $1,000 to win QuickCar Crate Late Model show
at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois, Mike drove
his borrowed ride to a second place finish in his heat race and
a third place effort in the headliner behind only victor Chad
Osterhoff and runner-up Remington Gill.
At Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday
evening, a $5,000 payday was on the line in the annual running
of the 'Illinois State Championship Hamilton Memorial 100.' Mike
clicked off the fastest lap of the 36 entrants during qualifying,
ran second in his heat race, and later advanced up to fifth in
the 100-lapper to trail only victor Dennis Erb, Jr., Ryan Unzicker,
Billy Drake, and Jason Feger at the checkers. Full results from

27, 2015) The Spatola Racing team was back in
the pit area at Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday
evening, September 26 for a weekly UMP Super Late Model show.
Mike Spatola III scored the victory in his heat race and later
started the $1,000 to win main event from the inside of the second
row. The Manhattan, Illinois ace then moved forward during the
A-Main and notched an impressive runner-up effort behind only

Fifth on Saturday at Peoria (IL) Speedway
20, 2015) Mike Spatola III and his #89 team invaded
Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois on September 18-19 to compete
in a pair of $2,000 to win UMP Super Late Model shootouts. Following
a rain-out on Friday night, Saturday's program went off without
a hitch. Mike knocked down the ninth fastest lap during qualifying
and later ran third in his heat race. After rolling off from the
inside of the fifth row in the A-Main, "Opie" was able
to move past four competitors en route to a solid fifth place

Mike Spatola III Competes
in 45th Annual World 100 Weekend...
13, 2015) Spatola Racing rolled into the hallowed
1/2-mile speedplant of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from
September 10-12 for the 45th Annual 'World 100.' The three-day
crown jewel extravaganza once again kicked off with a pair of
Twin 25 preliminary programs, each of which carried a $5,000 winner's
check. Unfortunately, Mike Spatola III was not able to transfer
into his 25-lapper on both occasions, as he finished fifth in
his heat race and seventh in his B-Main on Thursday night and
sixth in his heat race and tenth in his B-Main in Friday's show,
which was held on Saturday afternoon following persistent rain
All eyes were then fixated on the 45th edition of
the 'World 100' on Saturday evening and a huge throng of race
fans piled into the "Big E" to witness the festivities.
Mike placed tenth in his stacked heat race and fifteenth in his
consolation event. Unfortunately, "Opie" was not able
to crack the starting grid for the 100-lap headliner, which was

The Spatola Racing team made an unannounced trip to Spoon River
Speedway in Banner, Illinois on Sunday, September 6 for a $2,000
to win UMP Late Model special. Mike Spatola III laid down the
fourth quickest lap in his group during qualifying prior to finishing
fourth in heat race action. The Manhattan, Illinois native eventually
wound up thirteenth in the final finishing order last night at

Newly married Mike Spatola III returned to racing action on August
28-29 in a pair of weekend events at Hartford Speedway in Hartford,
Michigan and LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois. On Friday
night at Hartford, Mike won his heat race prior to moving up to
third in the $1,500 to win feature event to finish behind only
winner JR Hotovy and runner-up Guy Volk. At LaSalle on Saturday
evening, "Opie" once again won his heat race and later
scored an impressive runner-up effort in the $3,000 to win headliner

15, 2015) A day before his wedding, Mike Spatola
III and his #89 team rolled into Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee,
Illinois on Friday night, August 14 for the 'Land of Lincoln 40.'
The American Late Model Series (ALMS) presided over the $3,000
to win special event. Mike knocked down the second fastest lap
overall during qualifying prior to running second in heat race
action. After starting the 40-lap headliner from the outside of
the second row, "Opie" wound up finishing right where
he started... in the fourth position behind only race winner Brian

9, 2015) The Spatola Racing team picked up their
fourth and fifth wins of the 2015 racing season over the August
7-8 weekend in their home state of Illinois! On Friday night at
Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois, Mike Spatola III
ran fourth in his heat race and later took the lead early in the
weekly main event to bag the $1,200 top prize over Torin Mettille,
Jay Morris, Donnie Johnson, and Randy Manos. At LaSalle Speedway
in LaSalle, Illinois on Saturday evening, Mike qualified third
fastest in time trials, ran second in his heat race, and later
led the last few laps of the headliner to score the $1,000 winner's

Mike Spatola III and Spatola Racing stormed into Fairbury American
Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, August
1 for a weekly UMP Late Model showdown. Mike laid down the second
quickest lap during qualifying and later placed second in his
heat race at the 1/4-mile bullring. After starting the $1,200
to win headliner from the outside of the second row, "Opie"
was able to move up to finish third behind only race winner Kevin

Spatola Racing Enters
Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway
26, 2015) Mike Spatola III and his #89 team invaded
Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on July
24-25 for the 26th Annual 'Prairie Dirt Classic.' On Friday night,
Mike timed in twenty-eighth fastest in Group B during World of
Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying and later ran sixth in heat
race action. After finishing fourth in his B-Main on Saturday
evening, "Opie" was unfortunately not able to transfer
into the $26,000 to win headliner. Mike was then leading the Non-Qualifiers
Race before suffering mechanical woes (broken right rear axle)
late in the event, which dropped him to a tenth place effort.

The Spatola Racing team entered one lone event this past weekend,
as they pulled into Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Michigan on
Friday night, July 10 for a $1,500 to win weekly Super Late Model
showdown. After arriving late to the track and missing preliminary
events, Mike Spatola III started dead last (tenth) and had his
work cut out for him in the feature. Unfortunately, Mike was caught
up in an opening lap wreck and was placed ninth in the final finishing

Hectic 4th of July
Extended Weekend for #89 Team...
(July 4, 2015) The
hectic Independence Day holiday weekend wrapped up in style for
Spatola Racing, as they celebrated their third win of the 2015
campaign tonight at Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois!
Mike Spatola III laid down a New Track Record during the qualifying
session and later scored the win in his heat race. After starting
from the pole position in the A-Main, "Opie" led early
prior to holding the point for the last twelve circuits en route
to capturing the $1,564 top prize!!!
(July 3, 2015)
The #89 team rolled into Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois tonight
for the unsanctioned 'Firecracker 40,' which paid $2,000 to the
winner. Mike Spatola III advanced up to fifth in his heat race
and later started from the inside of the fifth row in the 40-lap
main event. Mike then stormed to the front and grabbed the lead
on lap 17 and led up until the 23rd circuit when he was forced
to pull in with a broken air filter stub. The mechanical woes
cost "Opie" a shot at the win and caused him not to
finish the race.

Spatola Racing followed the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals grind
to LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois for tonight's throwdown,
which once again boasted a $5,000 payday. Mike Spatola III qualified
fourth fastest in his group during time trials and later placed
third in his heat race. After rolling off from the outside of
the fifth row in the 40-lap headliner, "Opie" wound
up slipping back to twelfth at the checkers tonight at the 1/4-mile

The extended Independence Day holiday weekend kicked off tonight
with a visit to the renamed Daugherty Speedway in Boswell, Indiana.
The UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour presided over the $5,000
to win event and 37 competitors piled into the pit area in the
Hoosier State. Mike Spatola III posted the fastest lap in his
group during qualifying prior to scoring the win in his loaded
heat race. After drawing the outside of the front row before the
drop of the green flag in the 40-lapper, Mike wound up slipping
back to sixth at the checkers.
